Put your networking fears behind you at Venturefest
For some people it’s as easy as pie; others say it’s
their most dreaded new business activity. Delegates at this
month’s Venturefest Yorkshire will be challenged to get over their
networking fears and pick up some valuable tips on making the most
of relationships to help win new business.
York Professionals have brought in seasoned
networker, Gary Mulholland of York St John Business School, to lead
the “Art and Science of Networking” session at Venturefest
on 10 February. Gary says the workshop will give businesses a
renewed confidence and enthusiasm for networking:
“A lot of business people would admit that
networking is something they know they should be doing more, but
that they least enjoy. Some people appear naturally confident
and skilled at networking but, like many things, networking can be
learned and improved.
“We want people to find the confidence to find
the people they don’t know in the room, step out of their comfort
zone and just really enjoy themselves. With over 40% of business
enquiries coming from referrals and people we already know,
building and maintaining relationships is critical to business
expansion and survival.”
During the 45-minute session delegates will
have the opportunity to practice and perfect their ‘elevator pitch’
with the experts. The workshop will be highly practical and
interactive to introduce delegates to the most effective ways of
growing at a personal and a business level.
The session forms part of the York St John
Business School Evidence-based Leadership Programme, which invites
businesses, students and staff to come together to learn and share
their experience and knowledge of leadership.
The 45-minute session will include:
- Facts about the economics of networks
- Ten top networking tips
- Different types of networks
- How to create your own network
- Adding value to yourself, and your network.
