Faculty of Health & Life Sciences
The Faculty of Health and Life Sciences at York St
John University has a long standing reputation for providing
student-centred, innovative programmes of education:
- Almost all of the full-time and
part-time degree programmes we offer are accredited by the relevant
professional bodies
- We take great pride in the links we
have developed with employers and seek to provide placement and
other work-based learning opportunities for undergraduate and
postgraduate students alike
- All of our programmes of study are
underpinned by significant practical study either in laboratories
or in the field or both.
The above aspects of our provision make our
graduates attractive to employers.
Our research profile is particularly dynamic with the Faculty
actively contributing to a wide variety of multidisciplinary
research groups and projects across Sport, Health, Counselling and
Psychology.
We are particularly proud of our reputation for innovation. This
innovation is reflected in the award of Centre of Excellence Status
for our Professional Placement Learning in Health and Social Care.
Practical elements of our health courses are based in the new state
of the art clinical skills facilities within the De Grey Court,
which opened in September 2008. These complement the excellent
sport science laboratories and sports hall located in Foss
building.
In addition to the variety of undergraduate programmes offered
by the Faculty, postgraduate opportunities are available. Many of
these courses are for qualified health and social care
professionals who may wish to continue their personal and
professional development.
