About us
The aim of the Higher York Access Centre is to
enhance the accessibility of Higher Education for disabled
students. We work with students throughout their Higher
Education journey, starting with pre-entry and transition,
continuing with participation and retention and finishing with
attainment and employability.
A large part of the work we do is with
students who are applying for Disabled Students' Allowance (DSA).
You can come to us for a Needs Assessment – we can offer you lots
of help and advice to support you through the whole DSA process. We
are also available to offer advice and information about making
learning more accessible for all, and deliver project work aimed at
widening participation and enhancing attainment of disabled
students.
We have developed some information sheets to get
you started – they will give you all sorts of tips and tricks to
make studying using your computer a better experience. Try them –
you’ll be amazed at the difference they make!
The service was developed in partnership with the
members of the Higher York Lifelong Learning Network:
