Making an Appointment

You can make an appointment by coming to the Student Advice Team helpdesk in the Holgate Student Centre, by telephone or by email. You will be given an appointment for an initial interview with one of the Counselling and Wellbeing Team. During this thirty minute session you will be able to explore your needs and decide what form of counselling would suit you best.

How to make an appointment

  • Come to the Student Advice Team Desk in Holgate Student Centre
  • Telephone us on 01904 876477
  • Book an appointment online by completing a few details.

At busy times you may be put on a waiting list. In this case you will then be contacted as soon as an appropriate appointment time is available. We make every effort to keep waiting times to a minimum.

Time to Talk

The Counselling and Wellbeing Team are available each day for the ‘time to talk’ session. This is an hour when you can drop in to meet informally with a member of the team without    feeling that you have to commit to more formal counselling support. There are no forms to fill out and you don’t have to leave your details.

The sessions are run on a first come first served basis. If you would like to find out more contact the Student Advice Team  E: studentadviceteam@yorksj.ac.uk

Contacting us by E-mail

Appointments can be booked, confirmed or cancelled and messages sent via E: counsellingteam@yorksj.ac.uk

One-off sessions

There are times when clients cannot make regular appointments and have to cancel sessions. The Counselling and Wellbeing Team can now offer the chance for a one-off consultation when there has been a cancellation. You might benefit from a one-off consultation if you feel that:

  • one session is all you need
  • you need to see someone urgently

To make a one-off session please contact the Student Advice Team helpdesk either in the morning or around lunchtime to check on available time.

It may be helpful to read further information for new clients before making an appointment.
