Applying for a Job
In a competitive jobs market making your
application stand out from the crowd can make all the difference.
Our Career Development Advisers can provide one-to-one assistance
on all aspects of applying for a job, from where to look for
vacancies, writing a supporting statement, through to interviews
and selection tests. See our home page for details of how to make
an appointment. If you want help from an adviser to complete an
application it’s a good idea to bring information (eg a job
description/person specification) for the post with you to the
meeting.
Resources
The library has a range of books on CVs, how
to complete an application form, interview techniques and
preparation for selection tests. If you want to apply for a
graduate training scheme pick up a copy of the Prospects
and get directories from Career Development; these contain
details of who is recruiting and how and when to apply. These
directories and other magazines available to take-away also contain
advice and information on applications and interviews; call into
our office in Holgate to see what’s available.
