There are many sources of job vacancies for final year students and graduates, some of these are given below

JobShop advertises job vacancies suitable for finalists and new graduates, although you must register to view them. If you are already registered with any of the prospects.ac.uk services, you can use the same user name and password to access the vacancies. If you are not registered with prospects follow the Register me link on the Job Shop.

  • NewJobDirect  Searchable site with vacancies from UK employer websites. A general jobs site, not just graduate jobs. Useful if you want to search geographically.

  • Real World Magazine http://www.realworldmagazine.com/ everything you need to get a graduate job including jobs, expert advice and independent case studies.
  •  http://www.monster.co.uk/ Monster.co.uk is a careers portal. This site features a decent skills database, employer profiles, interactive interview help and CV tips.
  • http://www.gradplus.com/ Gradplus aims to match graduates with suitable graduate careers. It provides help with marketing your CV, email alerts and recruiter profiles.
  • http://www.skill.org.uk/ Excellent site for accessing a wide range of vacancies for students with disabilities. Also extensive links to jobs in charities, education and public sector.

National newspapers

The following major newspapers all advertise graduate vacancies.

  • Financial Times - financial sector vacancies
  • The Guardian - vacancies in all sectors, particularly good for media, health, marketing and PR vacancies. Graduate section in the Saturday paper edition.
  • The Independent  - vacancies in all sectors
  • Telegraph - vacancies in all sectors
  • The Times  - vacancies in all sectors. Graduate section in the Thursday paper edition.

  • Paperboy.com  - online newspapers worldwide searchable by city or country.

Journals

You can find other specialist publications by going to www.prospects.ac.uk/ and choosing Jobs and Work then, Explore Types of Jobs.  From there, choose a job role and then select Typical Employers/Vacancy Sources.  This will tell you where to find job advertisements for that field. For example:

Vacancies are often advertised in industry specific magazines.

Media UK - A-Z listing of UK online magazines plus a small number of overseas publications. Searchable by title keyword.

See the Graduate Jobs pages of the prospects website for job vacancies for finalists and recent graduates. Register to sign up for job alerts.

Prospects and GET produce directories (available from September onwards) advertising vacancies for major graduate recruiters. These companies begin recruiting students early in their final year.  Visit Career Development to pick up your free copy!

Prospects Finalist magazine (produced five times per year) includes job vacancies for final year students. Pick up a FREE copy from Career Development.

The Employer Profiles on the Prospects website are useful for researching some of the major graduate employers.
